Works For Me Wednesday: Support Groups

I know it sounds like common sense, and yet not many of us realize the importance of a support group especially pertaining to a specific "circumstance" we're in in our lives right now.

When I first discovered that my son has dyslexia and ADHD Inattentive, I was at a loss. I poured myself into researching about it to find out how to help my kid. While combing the internet for information, I stumbled upon a message board at Schwablearning.com. At first I just lurked. But it didn't take long for me to start posting and actively participating. From there I have developed a support group that made me a better advocate for my son.

There are a vast array of support groups out there that can help you and I in our needs. Some that comea to mind are: Recovery Groups (Substance Abuse, Pornography, etc.), Grieving, Weight Issues, Divorce Recovery, and others like Homeschoolers, Moms of Preschools,Marriage, etc..etc...

The "Parent To Parent Message Board" at Schwab worked for me. If you're in a specific situation right now, especially a difficult one, I suggest you find a support group....it works!

You are very smart to be enabled rather than allowing these differences to become a tool of the enemy. He wants us to cry in our cheerios and feel defeated, but the Lord only wants our good. Thanks for the tip.
